The Six Word Great Enlightenment Mantra is: Aum Ma Ni Pad Me Houm (often spelled Aum Mani Padme Houm, but pronounced closer to Aum Ma Ni Bay May Houm). The transcending essence of this mantra is:

Aum symbolizes the Buddha family (white).

Ma Ni symbolizes the Treasured Jewel, or “At Will”.

Pad Me, from Padma, means “red lotus”, and symbolizes the Bodhisattva family (red).

Houm symbolizes the Vajra family (blue), the diamond being.

The mantra includes the three families, Buddha, Bodhisattva, and Vajra, in the trinity of “One Will.” So the Six Word Mantra represents the three maintainers of the universe: Buddha, Bodhisatva and Vajra, and can be called the “complete maintenance” mantra.

To apply this mantra in daily life, chant it when you have to travel to a distant place or if you have to accomplish some business deal, sign a contract, or talk to an important client. You can chant it 6, 9, 36, 54, 72, or 108 times. It has different effects depending on how many times you chant it. The number of times depends on what it is going to be used for and your stage of attainment. For example, if you feel a business deal is not going well, use this mantra.

It is best to chant it right after you awake in the morning, before eating anything, on the day you have an important meeting. While chanting, visualize the root guru, which is your master. My root guru is my master. Your root guru is Master Yu. You are like the branches of a tree and the Master is the root.

During the important meeting, visualize around your root guru many vajras and bodhisattvas helping you. If the meeting is not going well, visualize the person you are talking to as your root guru and things will change.

The most important thing is, no matter what happens, do not tense up, let it be. Chant in silence, be natural. It doesn’t have to be perfect pronunciation, just flow with it. Once you attain a stage of proficiency things will go your way. To attain that stage, chant it a couple of times now, and then later a few more times and watch your proficiency grow.

Do not tell this method to anyone and not attempt to teach it to others. Keep it to yourself, like a secret. Because if you told someone what you have learned, then they will know what you are doing, and they will find a solution to dissolve what you have done. Whether it is your children, brothers, sister, best friends, do not tell them this.

During your initiation, I told you that a Buddha sees every living thing as your parents. Only the ones who give, but never ask for any gratitude, are the ones of great merit. When you have great merit and your practice has attained to a profounder stage, you only need to say the mantra and it will have great effect. To build your foundation, only apply the mantra to something important, not to everyday meaningless stuff.

Q: How do you know how many times to say the mantra?

A: As you practice the dharma and progress to other stages, you will understand how many times to chant for various effects.

Q: If you think this mantra every moment you are awake, do you practice other mantras?

A: Whatever you learn, don’t become attached to it. You are just beginning to learn about esoteric dharmas. As you progress, you will discover there are many ways you can build on your foundation. If you do this continuously for one year, I will teach you some dharmas and methods so you will have no worries at all. Whatever you want to do will be easy to accomplish. But that depends on you…..>>>>Read Full Transcript
